Radiant Energy is developing solar energy power plants, initially focusing on sites in the U.S. West and Desert Southwest. These plants are based on Cool Earth Solar's concentrated photovoltaic (CPV) technology.
Cool Earth's patented technology dramatically reduces the cost and time to develop solar power plants capable of generating massive amounts of clean energy at prices competitive with fossil fuels. One solar power plant, using this technology, covering 150 miles by 150 miles, would generate enough power to meet all U.S. electrical needs through 2030.
A prototype plant is located in Livermore, California, near Cool Earth's headquarters. The company will begin developing its commercial plants, with capacities of 10 to 30 megawatts, in 2009.
